The CAUSE

The CAUSE idea was formed in the late 90’s in West Virginia and has expanded over time to touch individuals across the United States, providing a variety of services. While it has helped many individuals and organizations and has been assisted by numerous persons, it has become apparent that to reach its full potential it must become an approved non-profit organization.

Our Mission

Our mission is to assist children of all ages, individuals with disabilities, and adults without the monetary means, to participate in the world of aquarium keeping. Activities will include the procurement and distribution of aquarium food, aquarium fauna and flora, plant nutrients, and related equipment for these individuals. We will provide education on all aspects and benefits of this activity. To accomplish this mission we will work in collaboration with academic institutions, all levels of government, and the private sector.

Our Programs

Education - Provide updated information on all aspects of aquarium keeping field with:

• Newsletters
• Brochures
• Seminars
• Flyers
• Safety Issues

Distribution by procurement of aquarium related items to individuals, such as nursing homes, doctor’s offices, academic institutions by providing:

Prepaid vouchers for:

• Equipment
• Fish food and plant nutrients
• Alive aquarium fauna and flora

Collaboration - Provide information on Invasive and Non-Invasive species of aquarium fish, fauna and flora, and the threat to our nation’s ecological system:

• Develop a program to help prevent releasing non-native species into native waterways.
• Develop a program to increase awareness of the threat that introduction of exotic species has on the health of our nation’s ecosystems.
• Advocate awareness to pet industry of impact that trade of exotic species has on the environment.
