I see you found your way to my page ::grins:: My name is Michelle, I'm 27 and designed and maintained the original UniQuaria site. A full-time job in and of itself.

First, I'd like to say "thank you" for visiting us here at UniQuaria!! We're a great group of fish enthusiasts and we'd love to have you on our This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it if you're not already a member!! Now to describe my disease ...

Ever since I was a small child, I've loved watching fish ... I'm an Aquarius, would you expect any different? My parents saw this interest and bought me a gallon bowl ::shudders:: with 2 Goldfish. With weekly 100% water changes alone, we kept these fish for close to a year. After they died, I went to the nearby lake and captured some small fry that were in the shallows. I kept them in that same bowl, but needless to say, it they didn't last very long. That was the last time I had fish for many, many years.

But I got my fish-fix by observing fish in nature [or close to it in public aquariums] as much as I could! I studied all types of marine fish on my own and read anything I could find on them. In high school I had planned on becoming a Marine Biologist, but after graduation I really wasn't ready for college so I joined the Army instead. That's where I met my wonderful husband!!! After our son was born, I left the Army so our son could have at least one parent home all the time.

My fish-addiction took the back seat to my family and our dogs, but it still rumbled in the background. I managed to keep it in check with unhealthy doses of the Discovery Channel [I was glued to Shark Week!!!], but I knew it wouldn't last!!!

Being an Army family, we move every few years and just as the addiction was starting to take over, we received orders for Hawaii. I joined UniQuaria in the fall of 1999 and after reading posts and doing more research on the Internet, I decided that I'd hold off on my first aquarium until we were settled in our new home. We moved in and I had my first aquarium [a 37 gallon tall] 2 weeks later while we were still tripping over boxes!!!

After my marine tank was cycled [with Mollies] I bought several pairs of Seahorses. But because of bad stock [wild caught that were mishandled in transit] and personal reasons, I will no longer keep wild caught seahorses. After we move back to the states, I'll get some captive bred seahorses ... but for now, I keep freshwater fishies :)

Currently I have Angelfish, Clown Loaches, Corys and a newly acquired Galaxy Pl*co [along with the original Mollies]. I am putting together a new 55 gallon *planted* community tank [gotta keep the addiction in check, ya know] for all my fish but the Mollies - they'll stay in the 37 gallon which will be a brackish tank.

Thanks for visiting with me!! If you have any comments, questions, or just wanna say "hi" don't hesitate to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it me. Good luck to you and your fish Laughing
