I grew up as a child spending many a weekend at the local farms (now long gone). My parents brought my brother and myself there as often as they could. We would spend hours on end playing with the goats and pigs, chasing the chickens and trying to catch the fish. Almost always, we would come home with some new pets. Our home became a zoo, bird park and an aquarium all at once. The interest cultivated in me then has stayed with me ever since.
Over the years, I have been a steward of a wide variety of pets, including lotsa fish! I've kept almost every species of fish available in Singapore, most of them with much success. Along the way, I found my niche; my favorites which include the Asian arowana, stingrays, bichirs, members of the snakehead family, large cichlids, the aba-aba, lungfish, and large members of the catfish family. I've had a lot of experience with these. Usually the more uncommon they are or the weirder they look, the better I like them. However there must and will be the exceptions.
I started UniQuaria in April 1999 with the aim of meeting and connecting more people who share the same passion. We have come a long way, thanks to each and every member. I would especially like to commend Tom and our team of Moderators for the unyielding support they've given to our members. UniQuarians, I hope that your stay with us will be an enriching and rewarding one! All the best in your endeavors (esp. aquarium ones)!
